Labial reduction

We would like our patients to understand that there are many aspects of the human body and specifically speaking the genitalia that are individual to each person. By this we mean that there are a wide variety of shapes, sizes and appearances, all of which are within the limits of normal. Before undergoing any surgery, it is important to determine.

Whether there really is a problem or not

The most commonly requested procedures are labia minor reduction ('labiaplasty') and liposuction to the mons pubis.

Labia Reduction Surgery

There are few techniques used to decrease the size and protuberance of the labia minor of the vagina. The most common reasons for women to request this operation is because the labia are perceived to be too large and aesthetically un-pleasing or are noticeable in tight clothing, or make sports such as cycling uncomfortable. Some patients have report to have intercourse problems.

The procedure is relatively simple and consists of excising an area of the labia minor using a variety of incisions; and can be performed under local anesthetic. General anesthetic is requested more often.

Liposuction of the mons pubis improves the appearance of the mons and enhances its definition.

Good candidates for labia reduction are healthy individuals who do not have medical conditions that impair healing and Non-smokers, if you are a smoker you have to quit a minimum of 2 months before your surgery.

Labia reduction won't stop the aging process, recurrence could happen. During a consultation with our surgeon, your suitability as a candidate for labia reduction will be discussed together with your expectations and objectives, where the incisions are made, the length of surgery time , the recovery time and healing process.

Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include local and or general anesthesia. Our experience anesthetist will recommend the best choice for you.
